Circle in August
Sitting in circle is an ancient practice of witness, reflection, and articulating the thing that most needs voice. It has been medicine for women through the ages.
If you haven’t attended a circle before, here’s how ours work …
Women from all over the country, of all ages and stages of life, gather online, and I offer us three questions. Questions like: What is most jagged in your world? Or: Who did you used to be and how is it different than who you are now? How do you hold this transformation? And what story do you tell yourself about it?
We spend about ten minutes thinking through these questions and writing answers in our notebooks. Then our circle begins. One by one, we share our responses — and our lives and our selves — with one another.
Often, as we share, webs between us emerge. We see the currents so many of us are swimming in and the questions so many of us are asking. We see that we aren’t alone in really any of the things we felt so alone in.
As one of the women said in circle this week, “These are all things I have encountered in my life… or things I will encounter later… and it means so much to have such wise women guiding my way.”
Yes. I feel that too.
The world is asking a lot of us, and our close-in worlds are asking just as much. Let’s be together and feel the deep sigh of accompaniment through it all.
This group will gather for two circles together in August:
August 14 and 28 — Thursdays
10:30 PST / 1:30 EST
(circle will last about 2 hours depending on how many we are)
Zoom link will be sent two days before our first gathering.
